Dominica Costello, DO
Doctor Costello is a board certified endocrinologist and Obesity Medicine Specialist who has been in active practice since completing her fellowship training in 2006. She completed her undergraduate degree at Wellesley College, and attended the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences for medical school. She then did four years of internal medicine residency at Berkshire Medical Center. Her endocrine fellowship training was at Baystate Medical Center.
Since completion of her training, Dr. Costello has been on staff at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Anna Jaques Hospital, and joined Middleton Family Medicine in 2016.
She enjoys practicing all aspects of general endocrinology, with special focus on obesity and nutrition, diabetes and thyroid disease. As an active member of the Obesity Medicine Association, American Thyroid Association and the Endocrine Society, Dr. Costello is able to attend leading edge conferences and collaborate with other endocrine and weight loss specialists. She is mentored by some of the leading experts in the country.
Erica Ouellette RD, CDE
Erica joined the Middleton Family Medicine team and the North Shore Weight Management team in 2018. She is a graduate of Framingham State University Didactic, Bachelor Degree program in 2001 and the University of Delaware Internship program in 2003. Currently is a matriculated Master’s student at Framingham State University, Masters’ in Nutrition Education. She has been a Registered Dietitian since 2006 and a Certified Diabetes Educator since 2012. Her experience includes over ten years as Lead Dietitian for the Weight Management program at Lahey Out Patient facility in Danvers MA. Erica also has 12 years of experience in patient and out patient nutrition counseling Cardiac Rehabilitation patients, Pediatric population, Tube feed/Enteral and Parenteral, Type 1, Type 2, Pre-Diabetes and Gestational Diabetic patients. Type 1 Diabetes /Pediatric experience includes counseling patients at Massachusetts General Pediatric Endocrinology department in Boston.
Erica also has extensive training in Motivational Interviewing as well as working with Oncology patients. She is also a Certified Life Coach from the State of Massachusetts in the Diabetes Prevention Program.
Erica resides on the North Shore with her husband and daughter and enjoys spending time with them and her family in New York State.
Janice Thoen, BSN MSN FNP CDE
Janice has 23 years in nursing and 12 more years working as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has been working in the Middleton office since 2007.
After earning a BSN at the University of Iowa in her native state she went on to receive an MSN at Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts and the Family Nurse Practitioner designation in 2005.
Her special interests include Preventative Health and Diabetes. She became certified as a Diabetic Educator in 2017 and is excited to focus in that direction.
Janice lives on the Northshore with her husband and dog. She has 3 grown children. Her recreational interests include sailing, swimming, cycling and skiing.
